Full Description
The site of a former 19th - 20th century sheepfold recorded at TQ 7180 7642 on historic Ordnance Survey maps (1st epoch (1879), 2nd epoch (1896) and 3rd epoch of 1908.). The map sources depict a large sub-divided area with smaller fenced-off section at the edge of a large field in the former marsh abutting the old sea wall (NMR Monument Number: 1531623) . This site and the surrounding area has been destroyed through extensive clay quarrying for the local cement industry in the early to mid 20th century. This was recorded during the course of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. (1-4)
