Full Description
The Kent and Sussex Crematorium was built in 1958 for Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, it was dsigned by Brian G W Blackwood and built by Perryman (Building Contractors) Ltd. The building is of a modern, simple design and is built of brick, with a pitched copper roof to the chapel and felt roofs to the rest of the building. The west exterior gable is decorated with a plain cross. The crematorium consists of a chapel, a small room housing the Book of Remebrance, an office, vestry, waiting room and toilets. There is a porte-cochere at the entrance and the design also includes a flower cloister. (1)
