Summary

The earthworks of three Second World War bomb craters are visible on an aerial photograph taken in 1947. These craters were in an east-west line on St. Mary's Marshes, east of St. Mary's Bay. Air photos indicate that the bombs that formed these craters were dropped after 23 March 1942. They have since been levelled. They were mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.

Full Description

The earthworks of three Second World War bomb craters are visible on an aerial photograph taken in 1947. These craters were in an east-west line on St. Mary's Marshes, east of St. Mary's Bay at TQ 7889 7882, TQ 7894 7883 and TQ 7904 7885. Air photos indicate that the bombs that formed these craters were dropped after 23 March 1942. They have since been levelled. They were mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(1-3)
