Summary

The earthwork remains of three lengths of bank and associated ditches can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1947. These are situated in a field south of the southern edge of the marsh. These may be the remains former sea defences. Lidar taken in 2001 indicate that some elements of theses banks survive as slight earthworks. This site was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.

Full Description

The earthwork remains of three lengths of bank and associated ditches can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1947. These are situated in a field south of the southern edge of the marsh at TQ 7977 7785. These may be the remians former sea defences. Lidar taken in 2001 indicate that some elements of theses banks survive as slight earthworks. This site was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(1-2)
