Summary

The earthworks of a possible post medieval drain and flanking bank can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1947. This disused drain is situated to the east of St. Mary's Bay. The drain is not marked on the 1894 Ordnance Survey map and represents an earlier subdivision of the marshes. It has since been levelled. This site was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.

Full Description

The earthworks of a possible post medieval drain and flanking bank can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1947. This disused drain is situated to the east of St. Mary's Bay at TQ 7978 7876. The drain is not marked on the 1894 Ordnance Survey map and represents an earlier subdivision of the marshes. It has since been levelled. This site was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(1-3)
