Summary

The earthworks of a possible post medieval drain can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1947. This drain was situated on the edge of Buckland Marshes and fed into Buckland Fleet. The drain was disused in 1947, was not marked on the 1885 Ordnance Survey map and represents an earlier subdivision of the marshes. It has since been levelled. This site was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.

Full Description

The earthworks of a possible post medieval drain can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1947. This disused drain was situated on the edge of Buckland Marshes, fed into Buckland Fleet and was centred on TQ 7754 7730. The drain was not marked on the 1885 Ordnance Survey map and represents an earlier subdivision of the marshes. It has since been levelled. This site was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(1-2)
