Full Description
The earthworks of a possible post medieval causeway known as Manor Way can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1947. This causeway, which may have also functioned as a counter wall to the sea defences, is approximately 1km long. It runs from Swigshole in the south (TQ 7878 7762) to a point south of Egypt Bay (TQ 7828 7862). For much of its length it coincides with the parish boundary of High Halstow and St. Marys Hoo. It was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(1)
