Summary

The earthworks of a bank on St. Mary's Marshes can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1947. This bank is situated to the south west of St Mary's Bay and is in three parts that together can be traced for circa 360m. This earthwork may be the remains of a medieval or post medieval sea wall and has since been levelled. This site was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.

Full Description

The earthworks of a bank on St. Mary's Marshes can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1947. This bank is situated to the south west of St Mary's Bay and is in three parts. These can be traced for circa 360m between TQ 7906 7849 and TQ 7941 7860. This earthwork may be the remains of a medieval or post medieval sea wall and has since been levelled. This site was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(1-2)
