Summary

Two Second World War weapons pits cut into the side of the 19th Century military road linking Grain Fort and Dummy Battery. These trenches form part of the extensive wartime anti-invasion defences which extend around much of the coast of the Isle of Grain. These were mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.
