Summary

A Second World War weapons pit located to the west of the 19th Century military road linking Grain Fort and Dummy Battery. Wartime photographs show the trench lying adjacent to a line of barbed wire obstruction, part of the extensive anti-invasion defences and lines of barbed wire obstructing the coast of the Isle of Grain. These trenches form part of the extensive wartime anti-invasion defences which extend around much of the coast of the Isle of Grain. These were mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.

A Second World War weapons pit located at TQ 8904 7645 to the west of the 19th Century military road linking Grain Fort and Dummy Battery. Wartime photographs show the trench lying adjacent to a line of barbed wire obstruction, part of the extensive anti-invasion defences and lines of barbed wire obstructing the coast of the Isle of Grain. These trenches form part of the extensive wartime anti-invasion defences which extend around much of the coast of the Isle of Grain.
