Full Description
A small rectangular building (3m x 4.2m), possibly a military structure from the Second World War seen at TQ 8719 7824 located on the landward side of the sea wall close to the site of a former aerial or mast. This was mapped from 1951 RAF aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. During the war a broad ditch was dug/enlarged on this side of the sea defences to enhance the wartime anti invasion defences. There is a gap/causeway in this ditch affording access to the shore. This building and another similar one located on the seaward side of the wall could be the remains of pillboxes guarding this access point. (1)
