Summary

The earthwork remains of two parallel banks flanking a drain seen to extend for 500m north-west across Higham Marshes forming part of the medieval or post medieval flood defences. This former counter wall carried a causeway to Higham Creek. This was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.

Full Description

The earthwork remains of two parallel banks flanking a drain centred at TQ 7154 7499 which were seen to extend for 500m north-west across Higham Marshes forming part of the medieval or post medieval flood defences. This former counter wall carried a causeway to Higham Creek. This was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(1)
