Summary

A drainage ditch or canalised natural watercourse, probably Medieval or Post Medieval in date, flanked by irregular earthwork banks which are probably the result of dredging. The watercourse is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs, and has been mapped as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. It is located about one kilometre east of Hoo St Werburgh. The watercourse follows a slightly sinuous course from a narrow track at its northern end to the bank of the Medway at its southern end.

Full Description

A drainage ditch or canalised natural watercourse centred at TQ 7930 7194, probably Medieval or Post Medieval in date, flanked by irregular earthwork banks which are probably the result of dredging. The watercourse is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs, and has been mapped as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. It is located about one kilometre east of Hoo St Werburgh. The watercourse has a total length of 467m, and follows a slightly sinuous course from a narrow track at its northern end (TQ 7924 7214) to the bank of the Medway at its southern end (TQ 7931 7171).
