Summary

A possible Second World War anti-aircraft gun platform was identified during a 2009 watching brief carried out in Sandwich. The platform comprised an area of artificially raised ground, around 1m higher than the ground level in the surrounding area. The made ground deposit was seen to extent to a depth of around 1.1m below ground level.

Full Description

A possible Second World War anti-aircraft gun platform was identified during a 2009 watching brief carried out in Sandwich. The platform comprised an area of artificially raised ground, around 1m higher than the ground level in the surrounding area. The made ground deposit was seen to extent to a depth of around 1.1m below ground level. (1)
