Full Description

Vertical Datum: LAT At time of loss the PREUSSEN was the largest sailing vessel in the world. She collided with the SS BRIGHTON and sprang a leak but was able to put back to Newhaven, anchored off Dungeness. Her cables parted and the vessel was driven out to sea. Tugs took her in tow but cables snapped and she ran ashore and broke in two. She was en-route Hamburg to Valparaiso at time of loss. 07-OCT-1932 Position 51 08 01N, 001 22 10E. 01-MAR-1961 Confirmed at low water only a few spars still showing. 11-APR-1978 Drying height 3.9m in a general depth of 0.7m.
