Summary

At least two possible fields or enclosures of uncertain date, located on Hoo Common, are visible as very slight earthworks on aerial photographs and have been mapped as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. The two fields or rectilinear enclosures cover an area of just over 1 hectare. They lie beneath military features of First and Second World Wars and could be Iron Age, Roman, Medieval or Post Medieval in date. The northernmost bank coincides with a field boundary shown on Ordnance Survey maps of 1870 and 1886. They are possibly associated with a lynchet or field boundary immediately to the east (Monument 1550066).

At least two possible fields or enclosures of uncertain date, located on Hoo Common centred at TQ 7592 7150, are visible as very slight earthworks on aerial photographs and have been mapped as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. The two fields or rectilinear enclosures cover an area of just over 1 hectare. They lie beneath military features of First and Second World Wars and could be Iron Age, Roman, Medieval or Post Medieval in date. The northernmost bank coincides with a field boundary shown on Ordnance Survey maps of 1870 and 1886. They are possibly associated with a lynchet or field boundary immediately to the east (Monument 1550066). (1-3)
