Monument record TQ 77 SE 1521 - Undated lynchet, Hoo Common

TQ 7611 7150. A lynchet of uncertain date, located on Hoo Common, has been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. The irregular linear earthwork, 280m in length, runs along the upper edge of a natural slope. Its course coincides with the boundary of a small woodland around Upnor Lodge, which appears on Ordnance Survey maps of 1870 and 1886. This feature may have been an Iron Age, Roman, Medieval or Post Medieval field boundary. It is possibly associated with field enclosures immediately to the west (Monument 1550073). (1-3)
