Maritime record TR 37 SE 239 - Unknown
Summary
1621 wreck of English cargo vessel which foundered near Margate pier with her cargo of lead. Constructed of wood, she was a sailing vessel. She is described as a 'bark', contemporary language for a cargo vessel, which had not yet evolved into a 'barque' as we now understand the term. Another wreck event of a vessel 'near Sandwich' (902053) recorded in 1622 (New Style), also laden with lead and belonging to Sir Richard Gravenor, could therefore also be a later report of this vessel, or relate to a later wreck also unfortunately lost by the same owner in roughly the same area.
