Full Description
A pleasure yacht, hired as an armed patrol yacht by the Admiralty on 12 September 1914, lost when she detonated a mine off Leathercoat. Vertical Datum: LAT Quality of Depth: SWS HMS ARIES was mined in 1915. 04-AUG-1936 Least depth 41ft. Position 51 11 12.0N, 001 25 59.0E. 08-OCT-1937 Drift swept - foul at 41ft, clear at 39ft. Position 51 11 13.0N, 001 25 56.0E. 18-APR-1979 Large wreck in 2 pieces. Examined 18-MAR-1977 and 13-APR-1978 in 51 11 11.0N, 001 25 54.0E. Least echosounder depth 11.7 in general depth 16m. No scour. Side scan sonar height 3.1m. Gives good all round sonar response. Main part lying NE/SW with smaller part about 200ft to the SW.
