Vertical Datum: LAT Quality of Depth: SWS The GUARDSMAN was mined and the wreck was dispersed to the seabed in 1946. 30-JUL-1969 Position of this wreck lies close to a bank and a persistent asdic contact was found in a position about 300ft WNW of given position. There was no sign of wreckage on close sounding the area. It is considered probable that the wreck has been covered by the bank and may uncover and should therefore be reinvestigated at next routine survey. 25-AUG-1971 Unable to locate. Close echosounder search and transit sonar JULY 1971. 04-JUN-1974 Not located 05-MAY-1977 Piece of wreckage, standing 1m above seabed, located in 51 27 28N 001 26 08E. Clear 11m, foul 11.5m in general depth 12.5m, Scour 14m. Echosounder depth 11.3m. 13-OCT-1977 In 51 27 29N 001 26 11E. Least echosounder depth 13m in general depth 13m. Scour 14.2m. Approx 60ft long, lies NE/SW. 26-MAR-1980 In 51 27 29N 001 26 11E. Clear at 10.5, foul at 10.6m. Least echosounder depth 10.6m. Side scan sonar height 0.5m in general depth 11.5m. Scour 14m. Least depth at NE corner with large deep scour extending S and E from wreck. 02-NOV-1983 In 51 27 28N 001 26 10E, least echosounder depth 12.2 in general depths 13.5-14m. Scour depth 14.7m. Two parts exposed- SW'ly is shoalest, apparent length of main contact 23m. 15-FEB-1990 Located during area search (1). Not examined closely.
