Vertical Datum: LAT Quality of Depth: SWS The NEWLANDS was sunk by midget submarine in 1945. 04-JUN-1959 A float placed alongside the wreck. Wreck bearing from float 104degs 100yds. Wreck was marked by a buoy 070degs 3.24 miles from Margate Sand Beacon. 05-SEP-1947 Drift sweep after dispersal clear at 45ft least depth by echosounder 48.5f. Surrounding seabed 54ft. Good a/s contact. 15-MAR-1962 Searched for but not found. 25-JAN-1967 Least echosounder 48ft in general 53ft. Scour 58ft. 25-AUG-1971 Sws clear 48ft foul 49ft least depth by echo sounder 50ft. Seabed 50-55ft (sand). Scour to 60ft. Wreck dispersed 1947. Difficult to find. Position 51 27 45N 001 24 31E. 05-MAY-1977 Small wreck showing 2 spikes. Clear 14.9m, foul 15m. General depth 18m, scour 19m. Echosounder depth 15.4m, position 51 27 45N 001 24 32E. (1)
