Vertical Datum: LAT The THOMAS CONNOLLY was mined whilst engaged on boom defence service. Requisitioned from Milford Fisheries Ltd. 18-AUG-1959 Drift swept after dispersal. Least depth 25ft. 10-AUG-1959 Wreck dispersed to seabed. Clearance sweep carried out at 24ft. 18-OCT-1961 Drift swept - clear at 26, foul at 27ft, least echosounder depth 27.5 in general depths 28-29ft. Scour 31ft. Very little of wreck shows on echosounder. Narrow scour some 170ft long in E/W direction. 02-NOV-1961 Swept clear at 26ft 5in, foul 27ft 2in. Cleared 26ft 10in. Ng coords - 592906e, 177771n. 12-SEP-1967 Dispersed while area under complete Admiralty control in 1951. Survey showed least depth 24ft 6in. Admiralty informed but no alteration made on charts. This area was dredged by BP Tanker Co. in 1952. Dredger claimed to have worked over wreck to 29ft touching wreck but not required to raise buckets to clear. 1959 survey and sweeping gave least depth of 25ft 3in in general depth 28ft. Echosounder showed wreckage to be light and small in extent and probably to consist of more than one piece. 03-DEC-1969 Dispersal ops commencing 1-DEC-1969. 23-DEC-1970 More dispersal ops starting 11-DEC-1970. No 6 Medway buoy temporarily moved to N of wreck. 14-MAY-1971 Cleared area dredged to 8.5m [28Ft] below PLWD. 10-NOV-1989 Ops to remove the remains of this wreck commenced 22.10 89. 20-NOV-1989 Wreckage from below seabed level completely removed by grab dredger RHINO prior to channel being deepened.
