Vertical Datum: LAT Quality of Depth: SWS The LION struck a mine and sank while towing a barge in 1941. She was built 1902, and was requisitioned by the Air Ministry for balloon barrage duties. 23-MAR-1972 This is almost certainly part of the remains of tug LION and/or barge [see wreck in 51 28 01N 000 47 26E - 012201856]. Position 51 28 03N 000 47 30E, or 353degs,7600ft from Tripod Bn. Swept clear at 1fm. 16-AUG-1973 Shown as stranded wreck 2m on Medway survey of 1972 [k4998/7]. 12-APR-1985 Now shown as stranded wreck 2.1m On MPA 1001/2. 17-DEC-1992 Shown as stranded wreck 2.1m In 51 28 02.5N 000 47 26.5E on Port of Sheerness Ltd survey MAY-SEP'92 [MPA 1000/1].
