Full Description

Vertical Datum: LAT Quality of Depth: SWS The CARNE was mined in 1916. She was owned at time of loss by Clarke (Stephenson) and Co of London. 09-JUN-1959 Investigated by a/s and echosounder. General depth 13-14fms, least depth by echosounder 68ft. Nature of seabed sand, shell and mud. A solid spike 24ft high with a scour of 10ft. Datum Margate or Newlyn position 51 28 28N 001 40 07E. 10-DEC-1970 Found during area sonar sweep. Position confirmed but no time for examination. 10-AUG-1971 Swept 17.5m (9Fms 3ft) position 51 28 29N 001 40 09E. 10-AUG-1971 Swept clear 17.5m (57.5ft) foul 17.7m (58ft). Least depth by echo sounder 18.2m in general depth 27m. Scour 32m. Bottom gentle undulating waves. Examined by sidescan - in one piece with what appears to be damage on SW side and lies 125/305 deg about 280ft long.
