Vertical Datum: LAT Quality of Depth: SWS The AMETHYST was mined in 1940 - see also 012307816. 12-DEC-1940 Mast shows 3ft at LW in 51 30 45N 001 02 57E. 13-OCT-1941 Wreck dispersed - clear to 32ft. 10-MAR-1944 Drift swept, clear at 41.5, Foul at 42ft. 06-OCT-1945 Drift swept after dispersal. Clear at 45, foul at 46ft. 11-DEC-1961 Examined, wire sweep - clear at 46, foul at 47ft, least echosounder depth 59 in general depth 66ft. Scour depth 73ft. 25-JUN-1968 Located in charted position. Least echosounder depth 49 in general depth 70ft. Scour depth 75ft. A fair sonar contact. 27-AUG-1975 In 51 30 43N 001 02 54E. Drift swept - clear at 14, foul at 14.3m, least echosounder depth 16.2 In general depth 19-20m. Scour depth 22m. Large wreck and easy to locate, scour lies mainly to SW of wreck. 27-FEB-1992 In 51 30 44.1N 001 02 54.3E. Ogb coords- 611500e 183719n. Swept clear at 14.1m, least echosounder depth 15.8 in general depth 18.7m. Scour depth 22.4m.

Least echosounder depth 34ft. 09-JAN-1946 Drift swept, after dispersal. Clear at 52, foul at 54ft. 11-DEC-1961 Lucas wire sweep - clear at 52, foul at 53ft, least echo sounder depth 55ft in general depth 61-63ft. Small foul approx 2c SW. 26-JUN-1968 Located in 51 30 58N 001 03 07E, least echosounder depth 52 in general depth 65ft. Scour depth 70ft. Foul to SW, in new position 51 30 52N 001 03 00E. Only a small scour found while searching for wrecks in the vicinity. 26-NOV-1971 Swept clear at 51, foul at 51.3Ft, least echosounder 52 in general depth 63ft. Scour depth 69ft. In 51 30 58N 001 03 07E. Other wreckage within 100ft radius. Comparatively easy to find. 18-MAR-1992 In 51 30 56.9N 001 03 09.1E. Ogb coords - 611768e, 184124n - 21m ExN of charted position, least echosounder depth 15.8 in general depth 19m. Scour depth 21.3m.
