Vertical Datum: LAT The MAITLAND was lost in a collision while en route Oslo to Ridham Dock, 1926. Position 51 30 50N 001 01 05E, (see also MARCATO square no 122) Disperse to 36ft. Position not yet examined by TH. To be swept by KELLETT. Salvage operation still in progress KELLETT unable to sweep. 03-AUG-1928 Position of wreck 4.15 Miles 278degs from SE mile beacon and lt buoy lies 140yards 168degs from wreck. 06-NOV-1928 Wreck dispersed to 33ft and buoy withdrawn. 02-JUN-1959 Disperse to 33ft. 02-JUN-1959 Least depth 30ft 203degs 4.41 miles from Maplin Lth in position 51 34 52N 001 04 05E. Middle beacon 89degs 24mins NE. Measured mile beacon 102degs 52mins Maplin Lth. Maplin Lth 76degs 04mins. Girdler Beacon Nm 1279/29. 14-MAR-1962 Not searched for. 25-JUN-1968 No sonar echos. Close sounding revealed indications of wreckage and scours within 2.5 cables. 22-JAN-1979 Not found during close echosounder search.
