Vertical Datum: LAT Quality of Depth: SWS The RYAL was mined 1m SW of Knob Light Vessel whilst en-route London to Middlesborough in 1940. She carried 350 tons of cargo. 22-JAN-1941 Wreck PA in 51 31 15N 001 04 45E. 20-SEP-1945 Dispersed, clear at 45ft. 30-SEP-1945 Drift sweeping, Asdic sonar sweeping and echosounder. Clear at 46ft, foul at 47ft, position 51 31 23N 001 04 36E. 23-APR-1954 Drift sweep, clear at 48ft, foul at 49ft in general depth 65ft. Least depth by echo sounder 49ft. Seabed grey mud. Length 100ft, lying NE/SW. 14-MAR-1962 Not searched for. 11-OCT-1973 Sweep clear at 48ft, foul at 49.2ft, least echosounder 56.5Ft in general depth 64ft. Scour 72ft, position 51 31 23N 001 04 35E. Easy to locate, lies NE/SW. Highest point at NE end. Approx 150ft long. 09-APR-1990 Ng coords 613416e, 185007n.
