Vertical Datum: LAT Quality of Depth: SWS The TUMMEL struck a mine and sank 7 miles S of Kentish Knock with 9 lives lost, 1916. 1960 Possible a/s contact about 0.5M SW of position 51 32 20N 001 42 20E. Existence of wreck in doubt but further investigation required steep bank in deep water. Close probable cause of echo. 10-AUG-1971 Found in position 51 32 18N 001 39 56E swept depth 23.4m (12Fms 5ft). 04-JAN-1972 Sweep clear 23.4m (77Ft) foul 23.6m. Least depth by echo sounder 23.4m. Seabed 29m, scour 44m, ridged, lies 115/295deg about 190ft long. Position 51 32 18N 001 39 56E. Very probably TUMMEL because of length.
