Vertical Datum: LAT The SHEAF CREST was mined while on passage London to Tyne, 1939. 14-DEC-1939 Sunk in 51 32 33N 001 26 33E. 07-NOV-1947 Drift sweep - clear at 40, foul at 42ft, least echo sounder depth 52 in general depth 55ft. Hsa position - 51 32 37N 001 26 49E. Decca position - 51 32 41N 001 26 47E. 24-OCT-1949 Clear to 45ft. 19-OCT-1949 Located by a/s in 51 32 30N 001 26 48E. O sweep - clear at 45, foul at 46ft, least echosounder depth 55 in general depth 58ft. Scour depth 63ft. 03-JUL-1974 Position closely sounded. Wreck not located. Echosounder trace showed no contact. 25-OCT-1966 Examined, swept clear at 43, foul at 45ft. 21-JUL-1969 Several sonar contacts obtained in area of charted position of wreck but no wreck echo obtained on echosounder. A small scour was located 400ft W of charted position. Scour position 51 32 30N 001 26 42E. 28-FEB-1990 No indication of wreckage on seabed found using sonar and echosounder. Magnetometer deflection noted in vicinity.
