Vertical Datum: LAT Quality of Depth: SWS The HIGHWAVE was bombed and sunk by German aircraft in 1940. She was carrying 1447 Tons of cargo. 27-FEB-1940 Sunk in 51 39 54N 001 41 00E - 0.5M N by E from Kentish Knock Light Vessel. 16-APR-1947 Drift swept clear at 45, foul at 46ft, in general depth 66ft, least echosounder depth 49ft, position 51 40 01N 001 40 46E. 05-JAN-1971 Broken up wreckage in area. Very obvious on side scan sonar trace. 19-SEP-1988 In 51 39 58N 001 40 51E. Swept clear at 14, foul at 14.3m. Least echosounder depth 15.4 in general depth 19m. Scour depth 19.8m, side scan sonar height 3m, length about 75m. Intact and lying 000/180 degrees. Magnetic anomaly indicated ferrous content of 815 tons.
