Full Description
The ASHMORE was torpedoed by a submarine with the loss of four lives, 1915. 25-APR-1959 Swept by Asdic sonar in NOV-1946. Contacts fair and poor. Not found when attacked twice. This may be a tide rip wreck in 13fms position 514039n 014747e buoy in position 514117n 014808e 04-JAN-1971 Not found. Sonar contact from W, but side scan sonar search carried out at 1700ft spacing. Wreck unlikely in this area but bottom contact probable.
