Sunk 06-OCT-1939 (Folkestone Salvage Co. Ltd.). 07-JUN-1972 Lies with slight port list - 10ft scour at stern. Boilers and engine are high points (Mr Beazley, GB Diving Services). 30-JAN-1974 Position 51 14 46.0N, 001 30 03. Least depth 2.7 in general depth 17m. Scour 19.m. Marked water disturbance on surface. Lies E/W with sand built up along hull. Wreckage spread over 200m. 06-JUL-1976 According to letter dated 21-JUN-1976 from S.O.S. Salvage Co., wreck has some pig iron ballast in the remains of the hull, the sides of which have in one place fallen away to a height of no more than 10ft from the seabed. Vessel's propeller and condenser have apparently been removed at some previous time (Mr Jackson, Salvage Association, 24-JUN-1976). 11-NOV-1980 Examined in 51 14 45.0N, 001 30 03.0E. Swept clear at 2.6m, foul at 2.9m. Least echo sounder depth 3.5 in general depth 14-16m. Side scan sonar height not obtained. Length 160m, beam 50m (including sand build up). Lying 070/230 degrees. Breaking up. Massive surface swirls. 12-SEP-1984 Wreck is gradually being covered by sand (East Kent Maritime Trust, 23-JUL-1984). 24-JUN-1991 Examined in 51 14 45.0N, 001 30 04.7E. Swept clear at 4.1, foul at 4.2m. Least echo sounder depth 5.9 in general depth 17.4m. Side scan sonar height 11.2m. No scour. Large wreck lying 085/265 degrees. Length 150m approximately. Good sonar contact.
