Vertical Datum: LAT Quality of Depth: SWD LA NANTAISE sank following collision with SS HELENCREST, 1945. 23-AUG-1962 Drift swept- clear 45ft, foul 46ft. Least echosounder depth 54 in general depth 55ft. Scour 70ft. 05-MAR-1964 Very small - difficult to locate. Not located in surveys between 1965 and 1977, inclusive. 19-NOV-1980 Examined in 51 16 30.0N, 001 29 02.0E. Swept clear at 15.1, foul at 15.4m. Least echosounder depth 15 in general depth 17-20m. Scour 20.5m. On N side. Side scan sonar height 5m, length 40m, beam 17m. Lying 130/310 degrees, apparently intact. 08-APR-1981 Examined, basically no change. Area shallowing around wreck, which may soon be covered. 25-MAR-1985 Not found. Now considered to be buried. 11-NOV-1986 Detected during area search by magnetometer only. No indication on echosounder or side scan sonar. 05-DEC-1988 Not detected during area search. Depth in area now 10m. 16-OCT-1991 Not found during search using sonar and magnetometer. General depth now 10m.
