Vertical Datum: LAT Quality of Depth: SWS Built: 1944 Owner: US War Shipping Administration The HENRY B PLANT was torpedoed and sunk by German submarine U245 while on passage New York to Antwerp, via Liverpool carrying 9300 tons of cargo, 1945. 23-MAR-1945 Reported in 51 19 06.0N, 001 49 00.0E approximately, with least depth 36ft. 29-MAR-1966 Partial drift sweep - clear at 63, foul at 64ft. Least echosounder depth 66 in general depth 128ft. Scour depth 135ft. Large wreck lying about 340/160 degrees. About 600ft long. Good sonar response from all directions. Large surface swirl observed. 03-JAN-1972 Swept clear at 19.5, foul at 19.8m. Least echosounder depth 20 in general depth 36m. Scour depth 39m. Good response from all directions. Stands 18m above seabed and lies 120/300 degrees. About 600ft long and apparently intact. Surface turbulance in calm conditions. 07-JUN-1972 Wreck intact. Lies with 45 degree list to starboard. Has 10ft scour around stern (Mr. Beazley, GB Diving Services Ltd). 15-SEP-1988 Examined using hydrosearch. Intact wreck lying 120/300 degrees and standing about 20.5m high. Length 240m, width 20m. Has deep scour to SW which makes shadow height possibly suspect. Highest point at centre.
