Full Description
Vertical Datum: LAT Quality of Depth: SWS Crew Lost: 5 The FILLEIGH was torpedoed and sunk by German submarine, 1945. She was carrying 6000 tons of cargo. 22-JUN-1959 Drift sweep clear 44ft in position 51 20 39.0N, 001 44 26.0E. Located by Asdic sonar. Good contact gave an unmistakeable wreck with echosounder depth 11 fathoms, general depth 27 fathoms, least depth by echosounder 17 fathoms. Scour 29 fathoms. Sea bed very large spikes - sand, clay and shells. Position 51 21 16.0N, 001 42 04.0E. 03-JAN-1972 Position 51 21 15.0N, 001 42 09.0E. About 420ft long and appears to be 130ft wide general direction 202/022 degrees. Highest point approximately midships. 10-NOV-1976 Obstruction shown in position 51 21 19.0N, 001 42 03.0E.
