Method of Fix: 10 Horizontal Datum: OGB Vertical Datum: LAT Quality of Depth: ES 29-SEP-1943 Unknown wreck located in 51 40 21.0N, 001 34 12.0E during search to locate Walsingham, reported sunk in 51 40 44.0N, 001 34 12.0E. 08-MAY-1959 Wreck reported in 51 40 21.0N, 001 34 12.0E dispersed. It was found in 51 40 34.0N, 001 34 12.0E. Drift swept - clear at 38ft, foul at 39ft in general depth 60ft. Presumed to be Walsingham. 29-APR-1959 Dispersed to 45ft. Oropesa sweep - clear at 48ft. Position of scour 51 40 34.ON, 001 34 12.0E. Only small scour. 22-JAN-1970 Drift sweep - clear at 15.4m, foul at 16.0m, least echosounder depth 16.5m in general depth 18.5m. Scour depth 19.4m. Smooth seabed. Position - 51 40 29.0N, 001 34 18.0E. 19-OCT-1978 Examined in 51 40 29.0N, 001 34 19.0E. Least echosounder depth 17.O in general depth 18.5m. Scour 18.8m. Small broken-up wreck. Wire sweep not recommended. 14-SEP-1990 Examined in 51 40 28.9N, 001 34 19.6E. Least echosounder depth 17.6 in general depth 18m. No scour. No sonar height obtained. Length 35m, beam 15m. Lies 085/265 degrees. Very broken-up, well buried and only just proud of seabed level making it difficult to locate with echosounder. A magnetic anomaly was observed.
