Full Description
(TQ 618720) Iron Age coin dated to c 10-20 AD of the Trinovantes. The coin was discovered near Southfleet by metal detectors in 1988. Coin reference no: MSRC-GARYR-IA-2. The coin is made of cast bronze potin, measures 15-16.5mm and weighs 2.39 gm. The obverse shows a celticised Pegasus and the reverse shows Victory holding a branch and an uncertain object. Catalogue reference VA 1973-1. The coin is in good condition. The obverse die is different from others seen of this type and appears to show a griffin rather than a pegasus. (1)
