Monument record TQ 83 SW 29 - Site of Hemsted Place, Benenden School, Benenden

Summary

Hemsted Place was a medieval and post medieval manor house located on the site of Benenden School. There is a large house marked at this location on the Ordnance Surevy historic maps as 'Hemsted'. It is uncertain whether this was built on the site of Hemsted Place, said to have been demolished in 1859, or if in fact this source of information is inaccurate.
