The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. 5272 WESTWELL CHARING LANE Lacton Manor (formerly listed as Lacton) TQ 94 NE 11/26

2. Probably a late mediaeval timber-framed hall-house, refaced with tiles on the first floor and red brick on the ground floor. Hipped tiled roof. Gable at the south end having C19 scalloped bargeboards. The east wing is a C19 addition, wholly in red brick, with 2 windows, 2 similar gables and a gabled porch. Four casements to original wing and doorcase with flat wooden hood on brackets.

House of two medieval phases, the earlier of which is a 4-bay aisled house with a formerly open 2-bay hall dating to the mid 15th century. The later phase is an extension to the lower end of this and remodelling of the lower end bay. There were 17th century alterations. (2)
