Full Description

In the Admiralty Court of the Cinque Ports in July 1635 (1635 new calendar) it was reported that about September last four pieces of ordnance were taken from a ship called the Salamander of Flushing (Vlishinge) which had been cast away on the Goodwyn Sands. A claim was made for four pieces of ordnance taken out of the wreck. The claim was made on behalf of Peter Mace, merchant, of Sandwich. The wreck is later reported as occuring in January last ( the January preceding the September before July 1635 would be January 1633 in the old (Julien) calendar).
