Full Description

In the Admiralty Court of the Cinque Ports in 13 March 1697 the case was heard concerning the salvage of the tackle, apparell and furniture of the ship the Virgin Mary and of goods laden on board her. The list of goods included drugs, butter, paper (papar), hides and grain. The goods were to be sold as they were perishable. The list of goods also included a commodity called grogran. This may be an archaic spelling of either grogram or grosgrain which are both textiles. Date of case report (according to the Julien calendar) given as date of loss.
