Summary
1912 wreck of English lighter Mars which foundered at the Government Fuel Jetty below Upnor Castle. She was in ballast at the time, and would have had no propulsion of her own, being towed. Her recovery was discussed but it is not known whether this was eventually achieved.

Full Description
The lighter, Mars, owned by the London and Rochester Barge Company and carrying ballast, sank at the Government Fuel Jetty below Upnor Castle in 60ft of water. It was reported on 30 June that she should be raised but her lifting was not reported.
