Monument record TQ 66 SE 7 - Romano-British burials and associated grave goods
Summary
A number of Romano-British inhumation burials were found at Upper Halling near a lane connecting the Pilgrims Way with Lower Halling. In total ten burials were noted lying on a north south orientation. The bones were in a poor state of decay. A number of grave goods were found in association with the burials. Finds included black ware vases, one vase of a reddish colour, two cups of imitation samian ware, two black paterae, and the neck of a large goblet with handle. In one grave were three large flints and a curiously cut piece of chalk; some iron nails were also found.
