Full Description
[Marginal] In Oxfield, adjoining the churchyard at Birling, many foundations have been turned up by the plough from time to time. (1) Foundations, probably Romano-British, in Oxfield, Birling. (2) Area TQ 68206050. A perambulation of the large pasture field adjoining the churchyard, revealed no traces of foundations but many patches of nettles, may indicate buried foundations or rubbish. (3)
Fieldwalking reavled at Oast Park Golf Club no distinct concerntrations of artifacts, with the exception of recently dumped post-medieval tile. One mediveal and two Roman sherds of pottery in addition to five Roman tile fragments were collected. (7)
