Full Description

Method of Fix: Aerial Photograph Interpretation Photograph Number: KCC 1961 Line 8: 6700 Method of Fix: Aerial Photograph Interpretation Photograph Number: KCC 1967 Line 30: 1113 The 1961 survey shows remains of 3 barges lying to the west of a small land projection which continues from Bloors Wharf Road (1-3). This is the easternmost. Like the other 2 it lies end onto the shore. On the 1967 survey another barge (in TQ 8158 6772) has been positioned over the remains of those to the west and is butting against this one. By 1985 a new wharf has been constructed. This extends over the old intertidal mud and covers the earlier land projection. However, the site of these barge remains should lie to the west of the wharf but they cannot be seen on later surveys. The Society for Spritsail Barge Research record a number of barges in this location and note some as being built into the wharf NMR nos.TQ 86 NW 99 and TQ 86 NW 101 - TQ 86 NW 115 inclusive.
