They would not have been identified on the aerial photographs if they had not been seen on ground level prints, held by Medway Ports Authority, during the Assessment of Sources for Kent Maritime Sites and Monuments Record (Gale, 1994). From the aerial photograph the number of barges cannot be stated for certain.
