Method of Fix: Aerial Photograph Interpretation Photograph Number: KCC 1961 Line 10: 2301 Method of Fix: Aerial Photograph Interpretation Photograph Number: KCC 1967 Line 28: 1329 Cross reference: Society for Spritsail Barge Research has as Landrail (TQ 96 NE 26). One of two barges lying against a wharf which were visible in both 1961 and 1967, site photographs (1-8). The 1985 survey does not cover this area and nothing was seen on that for 1990.( 1-8) The substantial remains of a Thames barge. The stem and stern survive. Part of the transom stern is intact with the rudder still attached. There is another rudder lying 2m to the south. The stem survives to 1.5m high as does the rudder post. Both sides seem to survive to 1m high and there is iron machinery and other housings visible inside the remains of the hull. The hull is fastened with iron bolts and nails throughout. Much of the inside is buried in mud and stone from the seawall. The stem is to the north, the stern to the south (9)
