Maritime record TQ 76 NW 824 - Remains of an unidentified barge at Burham
Summary
Aerial photographs taken in the 1960s show seven barges lying deep in the mud around the north-west side of the island which edges the marsh. The most southerly barge is only evident in a 1967 photo and is more visible than the rest.
Later surveys show no barges as the area is now used for small craft mooring. A new pontoon runs off the tip of the island.
The Society for Spritsail Research records vessels in the area but there seems to be no link with the barges in the aerial photographs.
