An area containing broken structure appears on the 1961 survey but is covered by water for the 1967 survey. The 1985 photograph shows a larger amount of structure and elements on the fringes may be remains of barges.(1)
No sign of the barge describe by the previous authorities could be seen on available photographs when the area was surveyed for the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. It is possible that that this vessel is one of the elements of a ruined WW2 Maunsel fort which were dumped at TQ 7064 7636 in Higham Creek along with a number of wrecks (recorded in NMR Monument Record: 1025421).
