Full Description

`Deal 13. All last night it blew a heavy gale from the SW attended with rain, which has continued the whole of this day. The merchant vessels in the Downs rode hard; several lost anchors and cables, and proceeded to Ramsgate, but do not hear of any other damage.

`14th. Last night in a heavy gale several vessels lost anchors and cables.

`The following vessels have put into Ramsgate Harbour with loss of anchors and cables and other damage....

`The PATRIOTEA, Sjostrom, from Gefle to Gibraltar, is on shore to the northward of Ramsgate Pier, and bilged.' (1)

Wind conditions at Deal 13th `SW, blows hard', and 14th `SSW, do.' (1)

Source (2) states date of loss as the reporting date of 16-DEC-1806, and spells the name of the vessel as RATRIOTEA.
